The changes on the fourth line will certainly depend on how much Shanahan is willing to threaten Nonis/Carlyle into not being stupid.
Was tough to avoid an Orr+McLaren combo on the fourth line last year and that certainly made it the worst fourth line in the NHL. Would be nice to see some Marlies on there and get a chance to chip in.
Guess it all depends if we actually see legitimate changes aside from the assistant coaches. Very much an uncertain situation. Need a deeper team so we don't run the top 3 lines into the ground, but no guarantee it will actually happen. |

Bodie is the only half decent one contributing on the 4th line. Other than that i would rather see Mcclement walk since no point in paying him 2M, if we are signing bolland to at least 4M there is no need to have Mcclement making 2M on 4th line. So get in another center in there like mckegg or holland or gauthier taking that role on the 4th line, with Wingers like leivo who can take up a spot on the 3rd line wing

Carrick is a nice fit for that role. |

Given that scoring has never really been the problem they should fill out lines 3 and 4 with Marlies for experience, and then use all of the available cap space to bolster the D... |

Why would you put Gauthier on the 4th line? Let him go back to the Q |

I pray the Leafs never do a total rebuild. Just keep coming ninth. |

Bertuzzi - Komorov (Yes, he can play center) - Bodie
Leivo/D'Amigo fill in a 3rd line spot or as the 13th forward. |

It's perplexing that they brought back Carlyle for another year. This team is destined to be right where they are, a year from now. The 8th pick isn't bad, but they need to do something to move into the top 3 of the draft. To get a front line centre, they have to draft one. Even if it means moving a young asset, we have to move up. To worry about a 4th line, when we can't even build a proper 1st line is blarney. Time to start thinking about moving Phaneuf. Something like Phaneuf, Gardiner and the 8th pick, for Eric Gudbranson and the first overall pick. If we have to take back some cap, like Brian Campbell, then they should do so. |

Because drafting Ekblad/Reinhardt is something the Panthers will actually not go through with.
I think they learned their 1st overall lessons. |

The leafs need to stop doing what you're saying for them to do. Moving things to move up because one of the top guys is a saviour...8th could bring just as good a prospect in a year or two.
Was Giroux a top 3 pick? Sometimes you need to just stand pat and go with what you've got. |

Your chances are greatly enhanced, if you move into the top 3. There appears to be two strong Centre's available. The Leafs are in need of a true number 1 centre and you can't trade for one.....you need to draft them. The 8th pick will not guarantee the kind of centre that you need to go forward. We've been spinning our wheels long enough over this problem. Time to solve it, once and for all.

No reason to do a total rebuild. Good young talent on the team. |
